The body is the medium; the perception of a tangled, disintegrated body is the message
Dis-Somatic is an expression of the bodily experience rooted in our emotional condition. It offers a reflection on our struggle with perceived body manifestation, its disarticulated vulnerabilities, curves and protuberances and blurred boundaries between self and space, as a significant yet contentious, fragile and ultimately elusive truth. This work has developed from several years exploration into bodily self-perception and its constituent emotional condition as a creative driver for the expression of diverse range of different forms of art work including watercolor and knitted fabric installations. Some offer a humorous insight into somatic perception while others are somewhat darker.
